Our motivation is Jesus, our task is the Great Commission, and our opportunity is every day, until all have heard the gospel.

Mercy Ministries

Because Jesus loves us, we will show care, kindness, and love to others. Helping others is not just a mission strategy; it is acting on what Jesus has asked us to do, and it has value in itself.

  • In 1990, a total of 2,000 missionaries were sent out from Norwegian mission organizations. Today, the number is below 500. There are various reasons for this decline. First, the role of missions has changed. Second, mission strategies have evolved. Therefore, comparing missions in 1990 to 2025 is almost as difficult as comparing apples to oranges. However, we cannot ignore the fact that the number of missionaries has decreased. We believe in a new wave of missionaries from Norway.

Long-term missions

Do you have a heart for helping those who suffer, for seeing unreached people groups come to know Jesus, and for transforming local communities, cities, and nations with God’s truth?

We send out missionaries to the whole world, with the purpose of making God known through words and actions. Youth With A Mission Norway has over 100 missionaries in 40 different countries working in areas such as evangelism, church planting, discipleship, and community development.

  • A one-year team consists of 3-5 people who travel together as missionaries to one of YWAM's projects. The team will receive joint training, support, and debriefing from the sending base. They will contribute to existing ministries where they go, while also working independently as a team, focusing on language learning and cultural understanding.cription text goes here

  • All of our missionaries are sent out from one of our eight centers in Norway and sign a partnership agreement with the center they are sent from. It is the local YWAM center that provides guidance, facilitates, supports, handles formalities, and holds debriefing sessions with those sent out.

 FAQs

  • Our missionaries are sent out from one of our eight centers in Norway and sign a partnership agreement with the center they are sent from. The local YWAM center provides guidance, facilitates, supports, handles formalities, and conducts debriefing sessions with those sent out. Our sending process is relationally based, and it is important to us that those at the center and the missionaries get to know each other before they are sent out.

Everyone sent out by YWAM begins with a Discipleship Training School (DTS).

Check out the different schools here: (DTS.org)

  • The minimum requirement to be sent out with YWAM is completing a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with the University of the Nations. Many of YWAM’s missionaries use their education in their work, such as medicine, education, engineering, theology, and diaconal work. YWAM also sends out people without formal qualifications.

  • YWAM is a non-profit organization, and its leaders and staff are called to live in dependence on God for financial provision. No one working with YWAM receives a salary from the organization, but they raise a network of support partners who stand with them in their ministry.

  • With YWAM, you can go on short-term trips, as a one-year team member, or for many years. Our missionaries have served anywhere from one to 30 years, depending on how God leads each individual. To receive a partnership agreement as a missionary from one of our YWAM centers, along with the support that comes with it, you need to intend to serve for a minimum of two years.
